    Program Overview

    The Terrazzo, Tile, and Marble Setters Certification Program is a Red Seal–aligned course designed to prepare students for a rewarding career in the skilled trades. These professionals are in demand across construction, renovation, and custom design projects, working with high-end materials to create visually stunning and structurally sound surfaces.

    This modular program provides hands-on training from foundational concepts to advanced design and mechanical installation techniques. Students will gain practical experience in surface preparation, blueprint reading, complex layouts, restoration, and installation of custom mosaics and marble fixtures.

    Graduates of this certification program will be well-prepared to challenge the Red Seal Exam for the Terrazzo, Tile, and Marble Setter trade, allowing them to work across provinces and significantly expand their job opportunities and earning potential in Canada’s growing skilled trades sector.

    Admission Requirements

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
    • Minimum age: 18 years
    • Language proficiency (CLB Level 6 or IELTS 5.5 overall or equivalent)
    • Interest in construction trades and hands-on work
    • Prior experience or education in construction (optional but recommended)

    Program Modules

    Module 1: Foundations of Terrazzo, Tile, and Marble Setting (39.5 hours)

    • Overview of the trade and materials
    • Introduction to essential tools and equipment
    • Workplace safety and PPE
    • Surface preparation techniques

    Module 2: Intermediate Techniques and Blueprint Reading (39.5 hours)

    • Installing complex patterns and vertical surfaces
    • Grouting and finishing techniques
    • Reading blueprints and construction geometry
    • Basics of restoration and repair

    Module 3: Advanced Practices and Project Management (39.5 hours)

    • Specialized installation (terrazzo floors, custom inlays, mosaics)
    • Mechanical installation of large stone panels
    • Project planning, cost estimation, and team coordination
    • Regulatory compliance and environmental standards

    Module 4: Mastery & Professional Development (39.5 hours)

    • Innovative materials and sustainable methods
    • Leadership and mentorship in the trade
    • Business management and client relations
    • Red Seal preparation and continuous learning
