    Program Overview

    The Welding Certification Program is a comprehensive, modular training course aligned with the Red Seal trade standards, designed to develop skilled welders ready to meet the demands of a growing and diverse industry. Welding is a critical trade in construction, manufacturing, shipbuilding, aerospace, and infrastructure development—making certified welders some of the most in-demand professionals in Canada and beyond.

    This hands-on program provides students with progressive training, starting from the fundamentals of safety, tools, and basic welding methods, and advancing toward more specialized processes like pipe welding, automated systems, and metallurgy. Through simulated projects and practical assignments, students gain real-world experience and confidence in a variety of welding techniques, materials, and applications.

    Graduates of this program are fully equipped to pursue Red Seal Certification in the welding trade. This national endorsement enhances employability across provinces and serves as a recognized mark of excellence for tradespeople, opening doors to higher-paying jobs and greater career mobility.

    Admission Requirements

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
    • Minimum age: 18 years
    • English language proficiency (CLB Level 6 or IELTS 5.5 or equivalent)
    • Interest in skilled trades and mechanical work
    • Previous experience in welding or metalwork (preferred but not required)

    Program Modules

    • Module 1: Introduction to Welding (39.5 hours)

      · Welding history, applications, and classifications

      · Safety protocols and PPE

      · Introduction to basic tools and equipment

      Module 2: Core Welding Techniques (39.5 hours)

      · SMAW, GMAW, FCAW methods

      · Oxy-fuel welding and cutting

      · Setup and operation of welding equipment

      Module 3: Advanced and Specialized Welding (39.5 hours)

      · GTAW, PAC, CAG techniques

      · Welding various metals (stainless steel, aluminum)

      · Pipe welding and automated welding systems

      Module 4: Welding Blueprints, Metallurgy & Career Prep (39.5 hours)

      · Reading welding blueprints and interpreting symbols

      · Metallurgical principles and weld quality inspection

      · Certification exam preparation and career development
