    Program Overview

    The Early Childcare Assistant (ECA) Diploma at Futures Canadian College equips students with the knowledge and hands-on training needed to nurture children up to age 8 in safe, supportive, and stimulating environments. Students learn through classroom instruction, group discussions, case studies, observation, and supervised practical placements.

    The program emphasizes both theory and practice, covering child development, health and safety, family and community relationships, and play-based learning strategies. The co-op component allows students to gain valuable industry experience in childcare and early learning centers, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for employment and confident in their ability to foster children’s holistic growth.

    Program Length: 1000 hours

    Mode of Learning: In-person / Hybrid

    Credential: Diploma (NOC 42202)

    Students: Domestic & International 

    Careers related to Global Business Management:

    Admission Requirements

    · 18 years of age or older
    · Secondary or Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma
    · Assessment: Online or In-person Counselling
    · Result to Prove English Proficiency:
    · IELTS (Academic) – 6.0 overall
    · IELTS (General) – 6.0 overall with each band 6.0
    · PTE (Academic) – 51 overall
    · TOEFL IBT – 60 overall
    · CELPIP – 7 overall with each band 7
    · In the absence of the above, ESL is required

    Graduates of the ECA Diploma will be able to:

    · Demonstrate health, safety, and nutrition best practices in childcare environments.

    · Collaborate effectively with families, educators, and communities. 

    Job Responsibilities

    Early Childcare Assistants play a vital role in supporting educators and families. Typical responsibilities include:

    · Childcare & Supervision: Ensure the safety, well-being, and daily routines of children.

    · Early Education: Engage children in age-appropriate educational and developmental activities.

    · Meal Preparation: Assist in preparing and serving nutritious snacks and meals.

    · Household Support: Maintain children’s play areas, clothing, and materials in a clean, organized manner.

    · Behavior Guidance: Reinforce positive behavior and assist with toilet training and hygiene practices.

    · Transportation Assistance: Support school drop-offs/pickups or accompany children to activities.

    · Parent Support: Provide feedback on children’s progress and offer guidance to families.

    · Emotional Care: Comfort children, foster resilience, and encourage positive emotional expression.
